ALDOB is a tetrameric glycolytic enzyme that catalyzes the reversible conversion of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate to glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. Defects in ALDOB cause hereditary fructose intolerance. Subunit: Homotetramer. DISEASE: Hereditary fructose intolerance (HFI) [MIM:229600]: Autosomal recessive disease that results in an inability to metabolize fructose and related sugars. Complete exclusion of fructose results in dramatic recovery; however, if not treated properly, HFI subjects suffer episodes of hypoglycemia, general ill condition, and risk of death the remainder of life. Note=The disease is caused by mutations affecting the gene represented in this entry. Similarity: Belongs to the class I fructose-bisphosphate aldolase family. HepG2 cell; 4% Paraformaldehyde-fixed; Triton X-100 at room temperature for 20 min; Blocking buffer (normal goat serum, C-0005) at 37°C for 20 min; Antibody incubation with (ALDOB) polyclonal Antibody, Unconjugated (bs-4026R) 1:100, 90 minutes at 37°C; followed by a conjugated Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG antibody at 37°C for 90 minutes, DAPI (blue, C02-04002) was used to stain the cell nuclei.
